Perspective Required

Every now and then we need a sign that says “Perspective Required” so that we can approach a certain situation forewarned!

A conversation today with my youngest went like this:

Her: Mommy, when I find someone to marry, I can get my own iPad and my own iPhone!

Me: You don’t need to be married to get those things. You need to go to school, work hard, get a good job that pays you your own money and then you can buy your own things.

My InstaRoundUp – September

It’s time for another Round-up of my top Instagram Pictures since the beginning of September. I feel like I’ve been really busy, but I also feel like I have very little to show for it. I guess it’s more mentally productive than anything else, isn’t that the life of a freelancer.

Anyway, let’s get this show on the road. On with my top 5 pictures from Instagram over the last 10 days. Continue reading “My InstaRoundUp – September”

Warning: Memories Fade

This is a warning to all new mothers: your memories fade. One of the biggest mom guilts I have is that the first four years of motherhood were so hard and such an emotional rollercoaster that I don’t remember everything I wish I could.

That’s not exactly true. I remember the hard stuff. The tough days. The mistakes. The fights. The tears. The sleepless nights. The guilt.

The happier memories are less clear. They are more of a feeling than an actual memory. That makes me feel guilty all over again. #momguilt

Memories

Sometimes memories flash up on my Facebook of my beautiful girls, looking happy, having fun. Sometimes I’m in the picture with them, mostly not. I often struggle to remember that precise day or moment, and I wonder to myself, “Does that make me a bad mom?”  Continue reading “Warning: Memories Fade”

Making Moves – The Reality

Our moving date is getting closer and things are starting to get real, and really hard. For those of you who are new to my blog, or who don’t follow me regularly (Shame on you! lol), we are relocating soon from the Free State, to East London in the Eastern Cape.

My husband started his new job two months ago, but the reality is that there has been a lot of back and forth, and more time at home than away which has been great for all of us. However, real life is now setting in and he is now gone more than he is home. It’s hard for all of us, and here’s why.  Continue reading “Making Moves – The Reality”

My Instaweek Round Up – August Weeks 4 & 5

I skipped a week. My bad! Okay, maybe I’m too old to ‘say’ that. But I did. I skipped a whole week. The week before this was so hectic I only did 6 Instagram posts so I thought that it was basically just cheating to choose the top 5. So I waited a week and I now have two weeks of posts to pick the top 5 from.

So here we go …

No. 5: At the SA Mom Blog’s #JoziMeetup last weekend we got this awesome Baff Slime pack for the kids. It’s basically a powder you sprinkle in your kids bath water and after 10 minutes it turns to slime. You get to let them play for hours (okay, realistically a few minutes) without having to actually ‘supervise’, giving you the opportunity to SIT DOWN! Win Win Win. Read my awesome review on this stuff. I need more!  Continue reading “My Instaweek Round Up – August Weeks 4 & 5”

Parenting Win vs. Parenting Fail ft. Tonic & Tiaras

This latest episode of #ParentingWin vs #ParentingFail comes from the lovely Chanene who blogs over at Tonic & Tiaras. Like me, she is a mom of two little girls. This post is being published on the eve of the first time we get to meet each other in real life … so exciting!

If this is the first time you are reading one of these posts, I started the series with the purpose of featuring a mom who is willing to share a Parenting Win story and a Parenting Fail story. The Parenting Win stories are where mom’s get to brag about their greatest achievement (other than keeping tiny human’s alive) as a mom. These tend to be really small achievements to everyone else, but to the mom involved they are huge! The Parenting Fail stories are stories where you felt like you really dropped the ball (mine was a doozy!), the point is to make other parents realise that there is no such thing as a #PerfectParent. We all make mistakes but we learn from them and move on. Continue reading “Parenting Win vs. Parenting Fail ft. Tonic & Tiaras”
