#GirlMomsMeetUp | Toy Kingdom

Last week I announced the #GirlMomsMeetup that my blogging friends and I had organised! I didn’t give away too much information as we wanted it to be a surprise, and what a super surprise it was! One of the sponsors who were super excited to work with us from early on in our planning was the amazing Toy Kingdom. They invited us and our girls to experience their Build A Bear Workshop at their Toy Kingdom store in Boksburg at the East Rand Mall. The #girlmomsmeetup Toy Kingdom experience was on!

It was epic! For those of you who didn’t read it (shame on you! Kidding!) the idea behind our meet-up is that we, as moms of girls who are no longer babies but are not yet teenagers, needed to get together to see what was out there, and chat about the hot topics we are all facing trying to parenting the future generation of women! Announcing: The #GirlMomsMeetUp

I am so excited to announce the first ever #GirlMomsMeetUp in South Africa.

WHAT?

A few weeks ago I was chatting with a couple of my blogging buddies, Charlene from High Heels and Fairy Tales, and the award-winning Chanene from Tonic & Tiaras, about how we were struggling with some of the requests we were getting from PR companies and brands.

As Influencers we are always grateful when Brands and PRs recognise us. However, so much of the mommy blogger market is dedicated to little kids and babies. And we’re past that! Phew! But in the same breath, our daughters are not teenagers yet either.

We talked about how it didn’t sit right with us to work on products that don’t relate to us and doesn’t correlate to our individual blog’s brands.

We realised that we had stumbled into a little gap in the market. As moms of girls of a specific age group, our focus has shifted. Continue reading “Announcing: The #GirlMomsMeetUp”

The LG Sapience Smart Inverter Washing Machine: My Saving Grace!

At the end of last year I was extremely grateful to be given a brand new, 15 kg LG Sapience Smart Inverter washing machine. Grateful is an understatement. I felt blessed and honoured. Thank you LG!

As a Stay-at-home-mom and housewife, I spend a huge amount of time doing the family laundry. Previously I had an 8 kg washing machine which I loved. I won’t lie, that machine worked HARD! Then about four months ago it broke and I had to get it fixed. The replacement parts only came with a three-month guarantee so I felt like I was living on borrowed time.

I can live without any other household appliance, but not my washing machine! I am quite capable of washing my own dishes, or steaming food on the stove instead of the microwave, or even boiling water on a gas braai myself! What I can’t actually do is wash four people’s clothing every day, for the rest of my life. I just can’t. Do you know how many times a day little girls need to change their outfits? School holidays in particular feel like Paris Fashion Week every day! Continue reading “The LG Sapience Smart Inverter Washing Machine: My Saving Grace!”

Tangle Teezer Truths

I was first introduced to the magic wonder of a Tangle Teezer about 10 years ago while I was still living in the UK. My future step-daughter was around 3 and had the most beautiful hair. It grew thick and long from a very early age and it was, and still is, stunning.

But … brushing it was not fun. This little girl, who wasn’t really sure about me, did not appreciate my amateur attempts at brushing her hair, and I was terrified of hurting her. There was some crying (from me) and some screaming (from her) and sometimes I would just give up, tie it up and hope for the best.

And then we got a Tangle Teezer! Yay!!! Continue reading “Tangle Teezer Truths “
