How To Tell If You Are Winning At Parenting!

Let’s be honest, most of parenting is an uphill struggle.

Yes, we love them. Yes, they are cute. Yes, eventually they sleep through (that or you almost die for a few hours each night – whatever, at least your eyes close!).

But mostly it is hard, it is exhausting, it is heartbreaking, it can be humiliating and it is definitely expensive! Continue reading “How To Tell If You Are Winning At Parenting!”

How to Start A Blog

I have been blogging for over a year now and I have learnt so much in that time. Not to put anyone off, but it’s a whole other world! Blogging. It’s almost like an alternate universe!

In the last few weeks I’ve had a few newer (than me) bloggers ask my advice on certain aspects of blogging, which has been humbling as there are so many more seasoned and experienced bloggers than me, and there are many newer bloggers who have a larger following than me. After the 3rd or 4th person, I realised that my knowledge has been gained the hard way, and if people want to learn from my experience then that is fine with me!  Continue reading “How to Start A Blog”

My #Instaweek Round-up: Week 6

Welcome back to my slightly-late weekly round-up where I use the top 5 most liked pictures from my Instagram account over the past week as a prompt for a review of my week.

It’s been a pretty rough week. On Monday I took the girls to the pharmacist as they were both getting colds – cue Round 1 of medication. By Wednesday my eldest was a lot worse so we went to the GP – cue Round 2 of medication. By Friday I was super stressed about her as she was getting worse, not better. My GP referred her to a Paediatrician who diagnosed her with Sinusitis, Bronchitis and Tonsillitis. Cue Round 3 of medication (thank goodness for medical aid!). Poor child was really not great and was struggling with a very high fever of over 39.8 for 3 nights in a row.  Continue reading “My #Instaweek Round-up: Week 6”

How To Be A Good Blogger

I have been blogging for almost a year now. In that time I have learnt a huge amount that I didn’t even know was necessary to run a successful blog. I thought I would just write about my parenting life, and that would be it. How wrong I was!

People start blogs for many different reasons. I started blogging as an outlet, a way of getting all the thoughts that were swirling in my head out there, and as a SAHM I needed something that was my own, that wasn’t about my services to my family, I needed something that was mine. How To Keep Warm & Save Money This Winter

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a fan of the colder months. At all. In fact the cold weather is one of the main reasons I chose to return to Africa from the UK. Our last winter there in 2010 was spent with six weeks of frozen snow on our front garden. It didn’t snow for six weeks, but it snowed and then the temperature dropped and stayed so low that the snow that had fallen did not melt – for SIX WEEKS! It was about that time that we decided we just did not want to live in that cold weather anymore.  Continue reading “How To Keep Warm & Save Money This Winter”

How to Repair Doll's Hair

My girls can be quite rough with their toys. Majority of their dolls are stripped naked within hours of them being purchased and they then proceed to brush the doll’s hair until it fluffs out and knots.

I decided to try to ‘help’ restore these previous fashionistas to their former glory by attempting to repair their hair … think salon experience, but for dolls.  Continue reading “How to Repair Doll's Hair”
