My InstaRoundUp – 22 November

I feel like it’s been ages since I did an Instagram Round-up Post, but I guess not. Maybe it’s the time of year, everything seems to be going so fast! We are almost done with our school commitments for the year, which is pretty scary. Just one more function which is this coming Friday where the ‘man in the big red suit’ will be making a surprise visit to school, and then one more week of school and we are done. I can’t wait for the holidays. The girls are tired, I’m tired. We all just need a break!

On to the round-up …  Continue reading “My InstaRoundUp – 22 November”

InstaRoundUp – November ep. 1

Time for another episode of my InstaRoundUp where I use the Top 5 most liked pictures from my Instagram profile, as voted for by my followers, and I try to provide more context for my readers as to what was actually going on in my life at that moment, or the back story of the post.

Let’s get on with the show …

In at No. 5 we have the image I created for my blog post entitled Has The Gender Neutral Movement Gone Too Far? This post was a bit of a rant. I felt like I had been mommy shamed after my post about 25 Things Moms Of Girls Will Understand! where I was having a bit of a laugh and embracing the fact that my girls like pink things and pretty girly things etc. There seems to be a general consensus that girls who like pretty things only do so because that’s what we as their parents expose them to and force down their throats, and that these types of girls will never amount to “anything of consequence” and are more likely to be destined for the lifestyle of a WAG or Reality TV life. I vehemently object to that idea, just for the record. My post goes on to just call for calm and a reality check and let’s all just realise that kids do actually have a mind of their own and just because my daughter chooses the pink frilly dress doesn’t mean she may not end up being leader of her own prison gang! Consider yourselves forewarned.  Continue reading “InstaRoundUp – November ep. 1”

My InstaRoundUp – October ep. 2

Welcome to the latest instalment of my Instagram Round Up series. These roundups are the top 5 most liked pictures from my Instagram account, since the last one round-up post which in this case was the 10th of October.

I really enjoy doing these posts. Life moves by so quickly that it’s good to look back and reflect on what’s been going on in our lives over the past few weeks.  Continue reading “My InstaRoundUp – October ep. 2”

My InstaRoundUp – ep. 1 October

I’m back with another instalment of my InstaRoundUp where I take the top 5 most liked pictures from my Instagram account and use them to provide an update on what’s been going on with me and us.

First thing to note is that it was my birthday on the 1st of October so most of these pictures relate to that. I am 36 years old. Thirty Six! I feel so old some days, and so unprepared for life the others. How am I in charge of a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old? When did that happen?  Continue reading “My InstaRoundUp – ep. 1 October”

My #InstaRoundUp: September 2

Hi all. Well, I have been a bit quiet this past week, in fact I took a bit of time out from the blog. My parents from Zim and my sister from the U.K. all came to visit, and my husband was home as well (Yay!!) so instead of spending my time blogging, I got to spend it with my loved ones. It felt like being on holiday, but isn’t that always the way when granny comes to stay. Not only does she look after the girls (because basically they barely acknowledge my existence when she is around) but also because she gets to look after us as well. Moms really are the best!

I was still on Instagram a bit so here’s the top 5 pictures on my Instagram since the last one of these … Continue reading “My #InstaRoundUp: September 2”

My InstaRoundUp – September

It’s time for another Round-up of my top Instagram Pictures since the beginning of September. I feel like I’ve been really busy, but I also feel like I have very little to show for it. I guess it’s more mentally productive than anything else, isn’t that the life of a freelancer.

Anyway, let’s get this show on the road. On with my top 5 pictures from Instagram over the last 10 days. Continue reading “My InstaRoundUp – September”

My #Instaweek Round-up: Aug Week 3

The fact that I usually post these Instagram Round-ups over the weekend, and I’m only getting around to it today now that it’s Monday gives you a small indication of how hectic life has been this weekend.

Day trip to Jozi, braaing with friends, feeling generally rubbish and now my youngest and I both have a cold. It’s been crazy.

Nevertheless, let’s get this show on the road …

No. 5: The bottom of my laundry basket! Can you believe it! I thought it was a myth, but on the 15th of August 2017, I finally discovered it! I never thought the day would come and so had to take photographic evidence! Who knew? Needless to say, it’s full now, as is the spare – basically a weekend hangover for mom’s is double laundry on a Monday.  Continue reading “My #Instaweek Round-up: Aug Week 3”

My Instaweek Round-up: August Week 2

Well I am a bit late getting this post out this weekend. I blame my husband and step-daughter who is out from the UK for her summer holidays. Having them both home all week has been awesome, but I also feel like I’m on holiday.

We’ve been busy doing things as a family in the afternoons and evenings when the girls are finished school. In fact, just getting my youngest to go to school has been a trial, she suffers massively from FOMO and we’ve had a few tantrums at the classroom door this week! #givemestrength. As you will see, even my instagram has been a bit slow this week, but nevertheless, let’s get this show on the road.  Continue reading “My Instaweek Round-up: August Week 2”

My Instaweek RoundUp – Aug week 1

This has been a busy week, but a good week for me. We had an extra week of holidays so it was really good to be back home and in a routine. Some people hate it, but my girls and I need routine, order and a bit of predictability.  Continue reading “My Instaweek RoundUp – Aug week 1”

My Instaweek Round-up – July Wk 4

This past week was spent in East London doing all the things you do when moving to a new city. We had what felt like a billion house viewings, visits to potential schools, and a few hours of down-time at the beach. It was an exhausting week and to say that I am exhausted today is an understatement.

The girls and I travelled back home from East London yesterday. We were up at 05.00 and flew from East London Airport to Johannesburg, then had to collect our luggage and check back in with a different airport to fly to Bloemfontein. That flight was delayed by over an hour as the original plane was not available so they had to split the passengers into two groups on smaller planes. We were obviously put on the smaller plane taking not more than 30 passengers – I felt sick (thanks SAA – no comment!). Then on landing at Bloem airport we had to then drive two hours to get home. It should have been one and a half, but I took a wrong turn so had a quick tour of Bloem before finding my way out. I got home around 16.00. Basically it was 11 hours of travelling solo with the girls – and we’re still in the same country! Continue reading “My Instaweek Round-up – July Wk 4”
