How To Tell If You Are A Grade One Mom

I don’t know about you, but we have had to go through a huge adjustment this year. My eldest started Grade One in January and it’s been one helluva rollercoaster ride! Being a Grade One mom is definitely not all it’s cracked up to be and I have dropped the ball on a few occasions now already. It’s only February! #badmom

So, in an effort to cheer myself up I did what every self-respecting women would do, I confided in my friends. I realised that it wasn’t just me, we’re all struggling to adjust. I’m not talking about the kids, I’m talking about the moms! You know what they say, “Misery loves company.” That’s me!

I put out an appeal last week on my InstaStories and on my Facebook page asking you to share your stories with me. There was a good response to my appeal so I have pulled them together and am sharing them on here so that we can all have a laugh at each other’s expense. I always like to take a ‘bad situation’ and make it funny. Failing that I just use sarcasm. I’m cool like that!  Continue reading “How To Tell If You Are A Grade One Mom”

If Moms Designed Plasters!

My girls love plasters! Love them! My youngest is actually bordering on having haemophobia so I never run out of them. Never!! I’m not exaggerating here.

I, however, am fast running out of excuses, plasters, money to buy more plasters, patience, and wine! I am also sick of the same few plaster prints out there. Even the girls are bored of the same old cartoon characters available in the local stores.

That got me thinking, if I could design my own version of plasters, what would they say? Well, below is a selection of the ‘PC’ version of my imaginary plasters. I call this range:

Parenting Win vs. Parenting Fail ft. Tonic & Tiaras

This latest episode of #ParentingWin vs #ParentingFail comes from the lovely Chanene who blogs over at Tonic & Tiaras. Like me, she is a mom of two little girls. This post is being published on the eve of the first time we get to meet each other in real life … so exciting!

If this is the first time you are reading one of these posts, I started the series with the purpose of featuring a mom who is willing to share a Parenting Win story and a Parenting Fail story. The Parenting Win stories are where mom’s get to brag about their greatest achievement (other than keeping tiny human’s alive) as a mom. These tend to be really small achievements to everyone else, but to the mom involved they are huge! The Parenting Fail stories are stories where you felt like you really dropped the ball (mine was a doozy!), the point is to make other parents realise that there is no such thing as a #PerfectParent. We all make mistakes but we learn from them and move on. Continue reading “Parenting Win vs. Parenting Fail ft. Tonic & Tiaras”

I Used To Be A Sheep

I have always been one of those people who value other people’s opinions and who can be easily led down a certain path. Saying that, my strong moral compass has almost always managed to steer me straight when I realise I’ve gone a little too far down the wrong path. Thanks mom! Continue reading “I Used To Be A Sheep “

My Cloak Of Invisibility

As is customary in my house, the TV is on whilst I’m preparing the school lunch boxes and feeding the girls their breakfast before school.

We have an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area so I keep the TV remote control handy and use it like a weapon whistle.  Continue reading “My Cloak Of Invisibility”

To My Women on Women's Day

It is ‘Women’s Day’ today. A day to celebrate being a woman, and to recognise all the amazing women in our lives.

If I could have one wish this Women’s Day, it would be to spend the day with the women in my life who showed me what it is to be a phenomenal woman by sharing your love, support and guidance with me in my life.  Continue reading “To My Women on Women's Day”

My Instaweek RoundUp – Aug week 1

This has been a busy week, but a good week for me. We had an extra week of holidays so it was really good to be back home and in a routine. Some people hate it, but my girls and I need routine, order and a bit of predictability.  Continue reading “My Instaweek RoundUp – Aug week 1”
