Slime Time

How many of us fantasize about 10 minutes of peace where you won’t be needed, called for, required to break up a fight or clean up a mess. 10 minutes. It’s normally unattainable, a myth. Until now. I think I may have the answer … it’s genius!

If you haven’t heard of the Zimpli Kids Slime Baff, you really need to read this!

I went to the SA Mom Blogs #jozimeetup this past weekend, which was awesome as always. In our goodie bags, was this …

Zimpli Kids Slime Baff
Zimpli Kids Slime Baff – turns your kid’s bath into green slime!
My girls are starting to realise what the packets or boxes I bring home mean – goodies for them! When they ‘helped’ me go through the goodie bag they were immediately fixated on this box, and even more so when I read to them that it would turn their bath into green slime! They literally nagged me until I caved, from 08.00am until 16.30pm – I think I need a medal for withstanding that amount of nagging!

That said, I was a little apprehensive about it. My youngest suffers quite badly with eczema so we have to be very careful with products that her skin comes into contact with – everything from changing the bath soap to changing the brand of washing powder I use is likely to cause a reaction. Her main triggers though are acidic fruits such as strawberries, oranges, tomatoes, nartjies, lemons etc, and since I seemed to have it all temporarily under control I decided to forgo my initial reservations and let the poor child have a little fun too.

I read the instructions on the box from front to back and side to side, and what a cool box it is:

I then started running the bath and then realised there were more instruction inside the box! Note to self: Open the box and check contents inside before wasting water!

Anyway, we finally followed all the instructions correctly and waited. Sure enough after about 5 – 10 minutes the already green bath water started to slime up! It was super gross! The kids loved it!

To say that they had fun in the bath is an understatement. I set them up with various jugs and other pouring apparatus, poured myself a glass of wine and sat back to relax. And I would have done, but the infectious shrieks of laughter were too much, I couldn’t stay away and so went to watch them bath for a while. They really did have too much fun.

Once the playing is over, the instructions recommend that you put more water in the bath to dilute the concentration to help the slime go down the drain. The box also reassures the user that the slime will not clog the drain – always a bonus, one I was definitely counting on.

I ended up making the girls shower after their slime bath as there was no other way I could see of actually cleaning them. No joke – the slime residue sticking to them just slid off in the water.

Mom’s Win

The absolute BEST part for ME was when I pulled the plug and held my breath! This is the result after I let the ‘water’ out the bath:

I promise that all I did was rinse it off. I didn’t scrub it or use any cleaning products. It just went away! No elbow grease or heavy cleaning required. Win for moms!

The other win was that over 24 hours later and my youngest shows no reaction to the slime with regards to her eczema! That is a huge bonus for me!

Thanks to Zimpli Kids! My girls loved the slime and I’m glad it didn’t cause any lasting damage to my bath, bathroom or children! #parentingwin

Note: This would make an awesome gift for any kids!

  1. I love slime! When I was a Nursery teacher we used it all the time and it’s fab. As you say, its also ok for little ones with allergies and it washes out of clothes fine too. You can make homemade slime but its not as good fun at this one. Great review. #Globalblogging
