I don’t know about you, but running the schedule for 5 very busy people is crazy hectic. I wouldn’t be able to keep on top of who does what if it wasn’t for my weekly family planner.
This Is Why I Need A Weekly Family Planner
All Work and A Lot Of Play Too
- With three kids in school there are 6 days of the week that PE kit is required.
- They each have 2 sporting or cultural activities to do after school which means that they never all finish school at the same time on the same day.
- My husband plays squash once a week, and has a few other meetings a couple of times a month.
- We have date night once a month.
Due to the erratic times that the kids all finish school, or when my husband will be home or out, means that I have to plan what meal we’re having with military precision.
I don’t profess to be a meal planner – for that I would recommend you check out Mamma Chef Jozi. She’s awesome! She has some awesome, real and easy family meals that are easy and healthy.
But … I do have to plan what I’m feeding the family in advance.
If they are all home we can have a sit down meal. If they are not in at the same time, or in and back out, then I have to make a meal that is easy to reheat, or eat on the run.
I know. So what right? It’s a fact of life that EVERYONE has to deal with. Yes, but when it’s winter, and there are 3 school uniforms a day, plus hubby’s work clothes that come home caked in mud because he works outside, means that laundry dominates my life.
If I don’t know who needs what kit or uniform on what day, then it’s never going to be done right and I will end up with tears and stress every morning. I do at least 3 loads of laundry a day. THREE!
Against My Better Nature
I am not an instinctively organised person. I need to focus my mind to be organised because if I’m not then my anxiety kicks in. Fortunately my ability to procrastinate on an expert level means that there is no worry that I will develop OCD. But I do need to plan and organise my life. Routine is important to me and I don’t react well to curve balls and ‘surprises’.
So I created a planner that works for me. It’s simple. It’s effective and it’s easy to print off to use every week.
