My #InstaRoundUp: September 2

Hi all. Well, I have been a bit quiet this past week, in fact I took a bit of time out from the blog. My parents from Zim and my sister from the U.K. all came to visit, and my husband was home as well (Yay!!) so instead of spending my time blogging, I got to spend it with my loved ones. It felt like being on holiday, but isn’t that always the way when granny comes to stay. Not only does she look after the girls (because basically they barely acknowledge my existence when she is around) but also because she gets to look after us as well. Moms really are the best!

I was still on Instagram a bit so here’s the top 5 pictures on my Instagram since the last one of these …

No. 5 is the roll of pictures I made up for a blog post where I designed my own set of mommy plasters, based on what I wanted them to say instead of the usual boring ones you get in the pharmacies. I think I’m hysterical, let me know what you think if you missed these – I’m sure there are more I could add. lol

No. 4 – Last week’s #winewednesday post: “Not all girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Some girls are made of sarcasm, wine and everything fine! This is perhaps my favourite wine quote recently. I am definitely more of a sarcasm & wine mom, than a sugar and nice one!

No number 3 as we have a tie at No. 2. Normally when I have two pictures with the same number of likes, I choose the one with the most comments to decide which one is more popular than the other but these two were exactly equal. Surprisingly, one is of chicken pops on a day I was NOT winning at motherhood, and the other one was a piece I wrote on How To Start A Blog. You couldn’t get two more different pictures showcasing two very different parts of my life. I love this. It is impossible to pigeon-hole anyone, we are all complex creatures.

The chicken pops were on a night when I was feeling very harassed and not in the mood to cook a healthy gourmet meal that would no doubt end up in someone crying about how disgusting it is and so instead I gave them frozen chicken pops – cooked, on the side of half a cup of tomato sauce (yuk!). Everyone ate their dinner, mommy didn’t lose her sh*t, no one cried, everyone had a full tummy – maybe that is the definition of winning. It’s important to remember that there is no such thing as perfection, it’s about balance!

My ‘How To Start A Blog‘ was a post I’d had in my draft folder for ages. I’ve been mulling around a few ideas recently and then an old friend of mine was alerted to the fact that I do indeed have a blog although I never share it on my personal Facebook for the simple fact that my blog has nothing to do with nosy parkers, it’s really only about me. Anyway, after she got in touch, I realised that I’ve had a few people asking me a lot of advice recently and so I finally finished this blog post and shared it. I must admit I was a bit nervous sending it out as my way is NOT the only way, it is really about how I did it and the lessons I learnt along the way. It has had a couple of ‘hits’ every day since then so I can only hope that I am helping people as that is the whole point.

No. 1 – Finally my #winewednesday post from two weeks ago tops the top 5 … “If you decide to give up wine, you don’t really live longer, it just feels longer.” In all honesty, I wouldn’t know as I have yet to even attempt to give up wine, but I do take advice like this very seriously!

So there we have it. My top 5 posts on Instagram since the first one I did in September. I really feel like I’m slacking at blogging recently, but hopefully I am ‘back on the horse’ now.

I’m still looking for anyone who wants to be featured in my Parenting Win vs Parenting Fail series. Please get in touch if you are interested. This is not only for bloggers but for all parents, moms and dads.

Have a great week everyone.

I love these posts….and I NEED those plasters!! lol. The first one is definitely a must have. I put eye drops of my son’s itchy bite a week ago just because it was the closest thing to me and I couldn’t take the complaining anymore….so I totally relate! ha ha

hey mom of two little girls
As I am new to blogging I am reading through articles to familiarize myself and your username draw my attention as I am also a mom of two girls hence my name “mom42girls”. Also sometimes it’s not letting them know they win when they get their frozen chicken fingers versus a cooked healthy meal you sends hours preparing but it’s us (moms) keeping the sanity. This #survivalmode said it all.
