My Wanderlust

I am so excited I could almost burst. If you read my post from a few weeks ago you will know my husband and I are getting 3 days away to ourselves while my mom and step-dad come visit to look after the girls. My Wanderlust spirit will get to fly … or ride in this case!

Technically they are looking after the girls but I think we all know that the girls will breathe fresh life into them and recharge their batteries, whilst spoiling the girls with love and attention, as all grandchildren do and deserve.

But nonetheless, our trip is booked, our route is planned, our accommodation reserved.

I love travelling. It’s not about the destination for me. It’s about the journey. The adventure. The scenery. The feast on the eyes!

If you don’t already know, we’re going on a motorbike. A BMW, GS 1200 Adventure. It’s my first time on a ‘biking tour.

Yes, I’m nervous. Yes, I know it’s ambitious. Yes, I want to do it.

My husband has made sure I’m kitted out correctly (he always is!). My kids are in the best hands possible, and our lives are in order … read here if you don’t know what I mean.

Our plan is to do 3 countries in 3 days!

Like I said, ambitious. FYI, not only am I a novice, but I had both hips replaced in 2015, less than 2 years ago.

Our itinerary looks like this:

  • Day 1: South Africa to Swaziland
  • Day 2: Swaziland to South Africa to Lesotho
  • Day 3: Lesotho too home, South Africa.

    Safe travels, take care of the “mobile traffic lights” AKA cows that appear from nowhere in Swaziland. If you’re going through Oshoek and out through Golela, there may be queues. Have loads of fun!

    Pre-kids, the Mrs. and I went on a biking trip through Tuscany. No doubt, the best way to see, feel and be immersed in a new place. I jealous and very happy for you both!

      Thanks. I’m a bit nervous, but more so about actually sitting on the bike for the length of time it’s going to take us, but I’ve been assured we will stop often.

          1. You should get yourself one of those toddlers walking leashes ??… Definitely has an iPod or some music entertainment. X

          2. Ya he got me one of those radios that they link up via helmets so we can talk to each other and play music etc.
