Reasons I Hate Being A Housewife!

I am a housewife, a Stay At Home Mom, whatever you want to call me. I’ve written a lot about how grateful I am to my husband that we can afford for me to be available to my family whenever they need me.

If you want to read more about my life as a SAHM, you can read my guest post on The Tale Of Mummyhood: Mum Is Best series.

Just in case though: “Thank you my love, I’m very grateful, as I’m sure are you.”

Disclaimer and Recognition

Also … Yes, I realise that working moms do all this AND go to work. Well done you guys! I’m actually jealous! I’d love to get away from all the tasks I refer to below and do something with my day that actually feels meaningful and appreciated whilst also contributing financially to my family and having regular conversations with adults. You guys rock! Continue reading “Reasons I Hate Being A Housewife!”

Parenting Win vs Parenting Fail ft. The Non Adventures of A SAHM

After a brief hiatus from this series, I am so excited to bring it back to life. The lovely Nadia from her blog “The Non Adventures of A Stay At Home Mom” has bravely volunteered to be featured and I just love her Parenting Win and Parenting Fail stories.

If this is the first time you are reading one of these, I started a series where I feature a mom who is willing to share a Parenting Win story – these are stories where mom’s get to brag about their greatest achievement (other than keeping them alive) as a mom. These tend to be really small achievements to everyone else, but to the mom involved they are huge! The parenting Fail stories are stories where you felt like you really dropped the ball (mine was a doozy!), the point is to make other mom’s realise that there is no such thing as a #PerfectParent. We all make mistakes but we learn from them and move on.

Over to Nadia:

My Cloak Of Invisibility

As is customary in my house, the TV is on whilst I’m preparing the school lunch boxes and feeding the girls their breakfast before school.

We have an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area so I keep the TV remote control handy and use it like a weapon whistle.  Continue reading “My Cloak Of Invisibility”

Having It All As Mothers

Having It All

The topic of ‘Can Women Have It All’ is a very contentious one. There are many educated arguments, ranting blog posts, memes and feminist movements surrounding this one topic.

Why do ‘we’, and by ‘we’ I mean everyone but mostly women, feel like it’s some sort of challenge to be equal to a man. Or that doing what a man does is something to aspire to or achieve. That is utterly ridiculous.  Continue reading “Having It All”

Why Can't I Say 'No'?

The countdown has begun to our school’s annual 5-a-side Football tournament.

It’s huge!

The school takes kids from 4 months old right up until the leave high school, Matric.

The tournament is for all kids from grade RRR (age 3 – 4) until Matric (17 – 18 I think). So that means my eldest daughter is about to play for the third time, but it is my youngest daughter’s first time. Continue reading “Why Can't I Say 'No'?”

Married in COP – today's rant!

When you are young and in love, and the relevant important body asks you how you want to be married, your answer is usually something stupid like “In Church” or “In a Garden” or “On the beach”. Continue reading “Married in COP – today's rant!”

January Disease

We are half way through January now, and if you haven’t noticed there are basically two categories of humans on the planet:

  1. Those who suffer from January Disease;
  2. Those who don’t and fall into category B below.

They are Still On Holiday

Most kids have gone back to school, except for mine!

I know that’s not exactly true, but that’s how it feels. Their school only opens on the 18th! It closed on the 30th of November, that means that by the time they go back, they will have been on holiday for seven weeks! SEVEN!

I’m bored, they’re bored, it’s rained almost every day since Christmas eve. Continue reading “They are Still On Holiday”

Reasons Why I'm A Bad Mom … Apparently:

Based on my 5 year old’s reactions to certain instructions that I give her daily, I can only assume I am a ‘bad mom’.

Yesterday MY behaviour caused HER to have a breakdown and advise me of all the ways in which I am indeed, a ‘bad mom’.

Here is her list of grievances which she sobbed at me last night: Continue reading “Reasons Why I'm A Bad Mom … Apparently:”

Should I be defensive of being a SAHM?

Maybe it’s just me being oversensitive.

Maybe it’s me feeling undervalued.

Maybe it’s me feeling guilty.

There are a million other ‘maybe’s’ but I am sick and tired of the phrase “Wow, that sound’s hectic, imagine if you had to work too? How would you cope?” Continue reading “Should I be defensive of being a SAHM?”
